Every remaining design question was a perceptual one, and perceptual questions do not survive being argued in text. So the candidates got a route, the route got deployed, and the answer took about ten minutes on a phone.
The method turned out to matter more than the verdict: design a comparison so that one thing moves. The first two rounds changed the sans and the mono at the same time and therefore answered neither question.
